Dans le cadre de ma résidence d'écriture au Centre D'arts de Kerguéhennec dans le Morbihan entre février et avril 2020, j'ai lancé un projet de trio jazz moderne pour lequel j'ai fait appel à deux des musiciens que j'admire le plus aujourd'hui, le contrebassiste Bruno Chevillon (entendu chez Louis Sclavis, Marc Ducret, Michel Portal, Stéphane Oliva, Daniel Humair, Tim Berne, Caravaggio, Christophe Monniot...) et le saxophoniste Frédéric Gastard (entendu chez Journal Intime, Campagnie des Musiques à Ouïr, André Minvielle, Jacques Higelin, Brigitte Fontaine, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Marc Ducret, Nosfell...).
Le centre d'art peut héberger et recevoir les musiciens, mais n'a pas de budget pour payer les répétitions et l'enregistrement en vue de l'album qui résultera de cette résidence. Après avoir frappé à beaucoup de portes sans succès pour trouver des coproducteurs pour le projet (les budgets artistiques sont en difficulté partout hélas), je choisis cette option de financement participatif pour mener à bien ce projet et faire enfin exister ce rêve après lequel je cours depuis 20 années de donner une visibilité professionnelle à mon travail musical de compositeur/improvisateur.

Là, c'est un manifeste, une déclaration d'intention !
En m'entourant de musiciens aussi exemplaires et singuliers que Bruno Chevillon et Frédéric Gastard, Je revendique une filiation dans une histoire du jazz créative et généreuse. Le répertoire que j'ai composé ou réorchestré pour ce nouveau trio convoque quelques grands maîtres du passé qui ont été et sont encore des jalons dans ma construction musicale et personnelle. On entendra donc des références plus ou moins explicites à Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett et Marc Ducret, mais aussi à Tom Waits, Hegel ou au cinéaste hongrois Belà Tarr.
Le choix d'un effectif instrumental sans batterie et sans instrument harmonique pousse à l'inventivité et gomme la notion de rôle préétabli dans la musique, obligeant chacun au sein du trio à contribuer de manière équilatérale au triangle ainsi formé, dans la lignée de ce que Mark Turner intitule « musique de chambre improvisée ».
Le projet musical de ce trio invite l'auditeur à une recherche poétique célébrant chaque son et chaque instant, à la recherche de la magie du monde qui nous entoure, intense et fragile.
Détail d'utilisation des fonds récoltés:
3500 euros: frais de répétitions
2500 euros: enregistrement, mixage et mastering pour l'album.
Les contributeurs auront accès en exclusivité au son numérique de l'album avant sa sortie officielle, des invitations aux concerts ultérieurs et d'autres avantages encore à définir en fonction de l'évolution du projet.

In the context of my composition residence at the Art Center of Kerguéhennec in the province of Morbihan between february and april 2020, I initiated a project of a modern jazz trio with two of the musicians I admire the most, double-bass player Bruno Chevillon (heard with Louis Sclavis, Marc Ducret, Michel Portal, Stéphane Oliva, Daniel Humair, Tim Berne, Caravaggio, Christophe Monniot...) and the saxophoniste Frédéric Gastard (heard with Journal Intime, Campagnie des Musiques à Ouïr, André Minvielle, Jacques Higelin, Brigitte Fontaine, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Marc Ducret, Nosfell...).
The Art Center is able to host the musicians but doesn't have the budget to pay for the rehearsals and the recording of the album which will conclude the residence. After a lot of coproduction requests which did not succeed (art budget are struggling a lot unfortunately), I decided to try this option of crowdfunding to make my dream exist. For twenty years I am preparing to finally give a professional exposure to my composition/improvisation work.

By chosing to be surrounded by musicians as remarkable and special as Bruno Chevillon and Frédéric Gastard, I claim a filiation in an history of jazz creative and generous. The répertoire I composed or reorchestrated for this new trio makes reference to few masters of the past which as been and still are very important in my artistic and personal life. You will be able to hear references to Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett and Marc Ducret, but also to Tom Waits, Hegel or hungarian film maker Belà Tarr.
Having an instrumentation without harmonic instrument and drumset gives the opportunity to be creative and erases the notion of function in the band. Each one in the trio participates equally to the music, in the idea of the concept of "improvised chamber music" created by Mark Turner.
This musical project invitesbthe listener to a poetic research celebrating each sound and each moment, looking for the magic of the world around us, intense and fragile.
Détailed use of fundings :
3500 euros: rehearsal fees
2500 euros: recording, mix et mastering of the album.
The contributors will have access to the audio files before the official release of the album, invitations to future concerts, and other advantages to define, according to the evolution of the project.
