FINALLY Get Lindsay to Guatemala

Donation protected

Back in 2011, after taking seven years of Spanish in high school and college, I felt God calling me to use my barely-bilingual disposition go with my church to Guatemala on a summer mission trip. I began making all of the preparations to go, but then I found myself expecting my very first child smack-dab in the middle of July, right during the upcoming trip. Needless to say, as much as I felt like I was called to go to Guatemala, it obviously wasn't the right time for me.

Since that initial calling, I've been either pregnant or nursing for each and every summer mission trip thereafter and, if I'm honest, it's been a bit frustrating. Why did God ignite this passion in my heart to serve the people in Guatemala when I was obviously living out a completely different calling within the walls of my own home?

"My own home." I'll never take those words for granted again.

When my husband lost his job in 2016, we went through a period of displacement, both geographically and spiritually. We humbly relied on our church family to provide our food and shelter for us while we scrambled to get back on our feet. Not only were our physical needs met, but our spiritual needs were met, too. Our faith in Christ was sustained by the love and kindness of His followers.

And now, I really get it. I really get why I have always felt called to go to Guatemala, but the time just wasn't right. Until now.

Now, with that uncertain season far off in our rearview mirror, going to Guatemala to build houses for moms and families is something far more than just a "nice thing to do." It's a way for me to show Christ's love and grace to others in the same way it was shown to me.

Will you partner with me this year? Here are some ways you can do that.

PRAY. Obviously, traveling to Guatemala for a week away from my family will be challenging, not just for me but for them. Pray for Dan, Dax, and Case as they let me go. And pray for travel mercies for me, and for the people I'll be serving.

DONATE. The trip costs roughly $1,400, which includes airfare, meals, and lodging. As a freelancer married to a public educator, we just don't have these kinds of resources readily available. But with your support, we can make it happen! Click here to add your support.

SPREAD THE WORD. The prayers and support from your family and friends is just as precious to me. I'll be working with Porch de Salomon and Element3 Church, and the trip is slated for July 7-14, 2018.

Thank you SO MUCH for coming alongside me in service. I can't wait to see what God does through you!

In Christ,

Lindsay Durrenberger
