A filmmaker without a camera.

What is a filmmaker without a camera?

Hi, I am Grant , and I have always had the belief that all you needed to make a film is a team, a camera and a story you are passionate to tell. It is this passion that took me from being a thirteen year old fooling around with cheap digital cameras on weekends, to studying for three years in Sarajevo, with a family of filmmakers, working towards my doctorate.

In Sarajevo this belief of no-budget filmmaking became my gospel as I set out to tell stories . Travelling around the Balkans I was able to make these films and shine a light on issues that are important. All was good, until I woke up one morning to find my camera was stolen, and I was a filmmaker without a camera.

I took this as a sign that I needed to stop, take a step back, focus on my mental and physical health, then rediscover the stories I need to tell.

Back with a fresh focus, I am  here today, looking to raise £1,500 to start making films again. With the money raised I will be able to purchase a lightweight camera and get out there filming again. Whatsmore, with the money raised I will be able to fund my next short, MUKBANG, tackling an issue dear to my heart.

In the UK over an estimated 725,000 are affected by an eating disorder at some point in their life. But of those 725,000 how many do you think are male? 20,000? 30,000? 50,000? No, a total 79,750, around 11% of the whole figure, of men suffer with some form an eating disorder, a rising number I include myself in.

Whilst going through therapy to unpack the causes, that made me look in the mirror and see an obese reflection of myself looking back, I did more research into eating disorders in men. All though only making up 5% of the population, gay men make up 42% of all males identified with having some form eating disorder. Putting it plainly, homosexual men are at a higher risk of developing an eating disorder in comparison to their heterosexual counterparts, another rising statistic I included myself in.

'MUKBANG' shall tackle this story in a brash, darkly comic fashion, delving deep into this problem.

From donating to spreading this page via your social networks, anything you can do to help me reach my target and get back to making films would be greatly appreciated. All backers will be duely thanked in the credits of 'MUKBANG'.

THANK YOU for taking the time to read/share/donate to my campaign.
