URGENT CALL TO ACTION:
If you’ve been following the last couple of days, you have heard about the devastation that continues to hit the Philippines. Super Typhoon Rolly has buried communication lines, businesses, homes and families. With winds of up to 235 km/hr, the category 5 - characterizing it as a tropical cyclone - Typhoon Rolly has left a wake of death and destruction in its path. Families have literally been swept apart, livelihoods are buried, and necessities are nowhere to be found. Water, food, shelter, medical attention and support have to be flown in.
The Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Alberta would like to jumpstart our call to action. We want to help the province of Albay in any way we can - and due to the current pandemic, we can only send funds.
To kick off the action, we have chosen to adopt the Municipality of Guinobatan which was heavily devastated burying approximately 300 homes due to the lahar flow from Mayon Volcano. For the next four weeks, all funds donated will for needed medical attention, supplies, basic essentials like water and food for Guinobatan. What was once a vibrant happy town has now been buried under dark sand, boulders of rock from the volcano mountain itself, large rubble and uprooted trees.
WE ARE ASKING YOU TO PLEASE DONATE
All donations made between November 5 - November 30 will be directly sent to the Municipality of Guinobatan.
We will be updating this crowdfunding page as we go, but we invite you to stay connected with us for progress reports over our social media accounts.
