Fiji COVID Relief - Mask Drive

Fiji, a beautiful island nation in the South Pacific, is currently facing the brunt of the COVID Pandemic.

Currently as of 12/07/2021, the nation has recorded over 11,000 positive cases, which means that more than 1 in every 100 Fijians have tested positive for the virus so far. Fiji has also recorded 58 COVID related deaths, 58 funerals too many, including that of a 15 year old girl, who was too young to get the vaccine.

As a preventative measure, the government is enforcing strict guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID which includes on-the-spot fines for anyone found to be in breach of the COVID-19 Protocols. During this pandemic, a lot of Fijians have lost their job and are scraping the bottom of the barrel just to make ends meet for their family. Many may not be able to afford masks and are further punished with having to pay a fine with money they would rather spend on food, water and other necessities.

To assist with minimising the spread of COVID, and to alleviate some stress for struggling families, I am asking you to donate money so we are able to send masks, medical PPE and other high priority medical equipment to be distributed to those in need. If you know anyone who is willing and able to mass-produce reusable COVID masks or donate medical supplies, please get them in touch with me via email ([email redacted]). Your generosity is greatly appreciated as it may save lots of lives and help bring Fiji onto the road to recovery.

UPDATE: I, Isaac Nasedra, will be withdrawing the funds so that I can allocate it accordingly: half of the funds will go to purchasing equipment, including an airvo2 unit as well as its recommended consumables and PPE and organising for its transfer over to Fiji. This will cost approximately $17,000AUD. The entire remaining funds will be donated to a non-government organisation in Fiji called the Fiji Council of Social Services to help finance local businesses to create and distribute reusable masks.

We are receiving assistance from the Fiji High Commission to help ship the equipment across to Fiji.
