Champions for Life GoFundMe campaign

Detroit is the first city in a national expansion of the 20-year-old Figure Skating in Harlem, the only youth development organization that combines the power of education and leadership with the artistic discipline of figure skating to build future leaders.

Michigan is a home full of figure skating champions and Figure Skating in Detroit is committed to building young champions with a foundation on ice, giving girls of color throughout the city of Detroit the opportunity to grow in confidence, leadership and academic achievement.

In 2014, Michigan natives Meryl Davis and Charlie White became the first American ice dancers to become Olympic champions. Now in 2018, several other Detroit area athletes enter the spotlight as they prepare to take the ice February 9-23 in PyeongChang, South Korea!

PyeongChang’s vision for the 2018 Winter Games is to offer the Olympic Movement and the world of winter sports New Horizons - a legacy of new growth and new potential never seen before. The 2018 Olympic Winter Games will no doubt expose new generations of potential athletes to the power of winter sport and to the beauty of the Olympic Movement.

For the 28 days of February, Figure Skating in Detroit plans to raise $25,000 through the Champions for Life GoFundMe campaign hosted by co-chair Meryl Davis in celebration of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.

Donate NOW to help the girls of Figure Skating in Detroit transform their lives. By harnessing their own resilience and strength, the girls of Figure Skating in Detroit will learn to pick themselves up each time they fall. Together, we will work to help our girls become powerful speakers, effective leaders, and global citizens, making their way towards a healthy and financially independent lifestyle.
