Sandra's Fight ...our fight.

Anyone that knows Sandra knows how selfless she is. Always giving and never expecting to receive anything in return for what she does. Even now, she would be opposed to us asking for help for her but it is all we can do.  She loves her family, and especially her three little grandkids Noah, Harper and Levi.

While visiting Denise in Texas, she ended up in the hospital with a kidney stone. When she arrived back to Florida she followed up with urology and received a ct scan that showed something wrong in her bile duct and an MRI confirmed that it was dilated. She ended up getting an egd done and a mass was found. Just a few days later she was diagnosed with invasive ampullary cancer. We met with the surgeon and we were ready to get a curative Whipple procedure but a ct of her chest was requested prior to surgery. Ct scan ended up coming back positive for possible lungs mets. She then went in for a lung biopsy and ended up with a collapsed lung and chest tube for four days. June 16th it came back that the cancer spread to her lungs. Surgery was then canceled and a port has now been put in place to start chemotherapy in just a few days.

Because her cancer is so rare and there is not a lot of data for treatment, we are planning on genetic testing to see if we are able to find the specific mutation to target the cancer. Of course insurance doesn't cover the entire cost of this so we are  asking for help. Every dollar counts to save our mom's life.  We can't imagine a world without her in it.
