JR’S palliative care unit fund

Donation protected

Hi everyone. First I want to thank all of you that supported dad in his time of need, it meant everything to dad and us and we’re so appreciative!

Many of you have been asking me if there’s a easier way to make a donation In dads name to the Palliative care unit at the Jewish General Hospital because the website is a bit confusing.
Im using the go fund me page as a way to connect with all of you but also as a easier platform for people to donate.

I first want to take 2 seconds to explain why we decided to donate to the palliative care unit.

I spent 18 days on the 4th floor at the Jewish with my dad and as you can imagine, those were not easy days.
The 21 nurses, many orderlies, volunteers and doctors in that unit are a very special group of people, they made my dads time there special and mine as well.

They not only take amazing care of their patients symptoms and physical needs, they also spend time with each patient, talking, laughing, reminiscing. They offer free ice cream, juices and other goodies as often as the patient wants, no limits! Free TV in every single room, chairs that turn into beds for the families and so much more.

They take care of the families too, I can’t tell you how many times I was alone and the nurses or volunteers or even the doctors would come and speak to me, make sure I was ok too, offer to sit with dad so I could take a break (even if I wouldn’t leave) offer me ice cream and cookies, always there to make sure everyone was ok.

They accommodate the families needs by offering a full bathroom with shower, a free laundry room, a family room with a TV, books, games, a fridge and even a aquarium, they also have a separate kosher kitchen. I used all of these things daily! I never had to leave dads side.

All of these things need upkeep or to be updated.
My dad was amazed by the place and the people and that’s where he wanted any leftover money to go, so in good JR fashion, we spoiled the doctors and nurses while we were there and after dad passed we made sure every single person working on that unit received a gift!

We hope to continue to support the staff and families on that unit by raising more money and making a big huge donation in dads name.

They have already opened the « Donald Thomas Mulvaney Memorial Fund for the Division of Palliative Care » due to the generous donations already received in his name!

To those who have already donated, Thank You!!!

To anyone else who wants to make a donation you can make it here,
or to avoid fees you can send me a etransfer to [email redacted]
I will put the donations up here,
or you can donate directly to the Jewish.

Let’s keep dads legacy alive by helping other families the way he always helped anyone in need!

This is for you dad!

Thank you everyone!!!
