#fightingthefighttogether for SHANE

This is my sons story from his families point of view,Shane Burkitt is 18 years old and is currently 'FIGHTING THE FIGHT' as he has been diagosed with  Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, everything was good in his life,a good, honest upbringing, just an ordinary lad, loves his WWE wrestling, loves his music, loves his disco lights,he was at the time of being diagnosed 3 weeks away from completing his LEVEL 3 childcare diploma and suddenly became ill on Friday 26th January 2018 complaining of aches and pains, just 'normal' flu symptoms,as flu was and had been in the family for sometime,as parents we obviously monitered him, giving him pain relief etc etc,we thought symptoms would go within a few days as had been the case with everybody else, however on Tuesday 30th January 2018 Shane woke up and was YELLOW(bart simpson yellow)so we took him straight to our local hospital, after recieving pain relief and blood samples being took,Shane was a little more comfortable,20 minutes later the doctor came back with his blood results,he took us from shanes room and told us Shane had Leukaemia, bang, just like that,we was heartbroken, gobsmacked,we just couldn't believe it,as no parents probably would, but this was real,we cried but never told Shane at the time as we were also told he had a chest infection, pneumonia, but more serious than those he had SEPTICEMIA,life threatening in  itself,we were told he had to be rushed to NOTTINGHAM CITY hospital 2 hours away,it was touch and go as to wether Shane survived,he made it to the hospital and was straight to intensive care where he spent 4 days fighting SEPTICEMIA,drips after drips after drips going through,14 BLOOD TRANFUSIONS,10 PLATELETS,pretty much very serious stuff, and very scary, but Shane battled his way through it but was still very very poorly as he was not able to fight infections due to his nuetropeanic level was at 0.3 where all of us are 1.0,doesnt sound much but believe me,it is,Shane was transferred to THE JAMES SKILLINGTON ADOLESCENT UNIT,opened by SIR IAN BOTHAM,where they deal with patients with blood cancer,so finally we started CHEMOTHERAPY on 8th FEBRUARY 2018, all was looking possitive,Shane was responding well, then came day 4 of chemo,ASPARAGINE,ok for a few days, then things started to affect Shanes liver, lungs and his breathing, his BILIRUBIN went sky high,288,its supposed to be 21,his albumin was as low as 14,supposed to be 35,so we've had to wait for these levels to get somewhere near to what they should be before chemo can start again, his lung and breathing was getting worse, they scanned him,he had what they saw a pint(568ml) of fluid on his lung,he has had a chest drain operation and as to date there is 900ml of fluid(blood/fluid)we have been waiting a long time and still we cannot start stage 2 of chemo because he isnt well enough, oddly as it sound we are at the hospital for LEUKAEMIA,we havent spoke about our son having it for over 2 weeks as we are still concerned about getting him well enough to start,it is now FRIDAY 9th MARCH and we still have no sign of chemo stage 2 starting,so theres our story,i hope and pray that there are a few generous people in this world that can help us,as our expenses are getting out of control,i have had to stop going to work due to not coping,my wife(shanes mum)is 24/7 at shanes bedside, fuel costs are high,170 mile round trip, general living expenses and alterations to the house for when shane comes home would be a massive help from donations, thank you for listening to our story about our brave boy,any donations will and would be gratefully appreciated for going towards helping our amazing son,no-one deserves this and we wouldnt wish this on anyone, thank you in advance xxx
