A Future Free of Leukemia for Euge

Hi, my name is María Eugenia Rodríguez (Luis David Chanci´s wife): 

We all have that one special person in our life. That person that has always been by your side and always will be there for through whatever life throws you. A person you admire and love unconditionally. For me, that person is my sister: Eugenia Margarita, who just turned 32 years old and works as a nurse in a hospital.

 
On May 13th of 2017, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She has since started her Chemotherapy treatments and has had a positive response to the treatment. Thank God! We are glad that she has kept a positive attitude during this painful process and a huge desire to survive and fight cancer.

 
Unfortunately, our country’s (Venezuela) political and economic situation has made this battle harder than it already is. This situation has affected Eugenia’s possibilities to receive treatment on time and beat this disease. We haven’t been able to find some of the medications in Venezuela and have had to buy them in other countries. Additionally, even though we have health insurance, our country’s economic crisis has affected the insurance companies as well, so we have been forced to cover the cost of doctors’ appointments, blood transfusions, part of the hospitalization expenses, and multiple medical examinations and tests.


Thanks to the support of family and friends in Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, and the United States, we have been able to find some of the medications in those countries and ship them here.  Nevertheless, the high cost of these medications and medical resources has made our debt grow very rapidly; which reduces our financial possibilities to support the chemotherapy treatment she needs for the next 18 months.

 
My sister has a remarkable determination to survive but we know we can’t do this alone.  That’s why we decided to create this donation page so our friends, family, new friends or any generous soul who would like to join us to help her beat this cancer, can donate as much as he or she is led.

 
With your donations you will be giving my sister the chance to get better and go back to her work as a nurse and help other people get better as well, not to mention you will be helping her build a future free of leukemia. You will also be giving me the opportunity to keep my favorite person in the whole world, happy and healthy.
