Hello everyone, my name is Claudia, and I'm humbly reaching out during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I’ve overcome many obstacles in life and this is by far the hardest needing a job, a place to live and food at once. I’ve overcame being in a wheelchair at least 3 times, learning how to walk again, learning how to talk again, family loss, lung trying to collapse, and more.  On May 8, 2024, I lost my job in a company-wide layoff. I delivered for Instacart and Favor to pay for gas and food, but it wasn't enough, and I lost my apartment. I put everything I owned into storage: family heirlooms, my bed, my children's childhood photos, a funeral plaque from my mom's passing, and a Bible my late brother gave me. On October 15, 2025, I lost that storage unit and everything in it. Those things held the memories of my family, and I can't replace them.
For more than a year after the layoff, I could not find a contract role. I finally found one and started working on November 19, 2025. It ended in February 2026. I began another from February to April, and a third from April to June. That work let me buy and rebuild some of what I had lost, and family and friends gave me things too. In August 2026 I lost my apartment again, and in September I opened a new storage unit for the items I bought and was given. I am still applying for long-term contract and permanent roles. I have had strong interviews and good leads, and one hiring manager never showed up for our scheduled interview. I have also applied for retail jobs, because I need income now.
I am a MD Anderson patient, and I also live with multiple sclerosis. When I lost my job, I lost the PPO insurance that covered my care at MD Anderson Cancer Center. I now pay $165 a month for an HMO plan through the Marketplace, and MD Anderson doesn't accept it, so I pay out of pocket when I go. I have already had to cancel some appointments. One doctor sees me at a reduced fee. My other appointments are seen at Texas Oncology here in DFW metroplex as well as I see a neurologist here in DFW in which I have a new patient appointment on October 6, 2026. My medications cost $330 a month. In March 2025 my lung nearly collapsed and I was put in the ICU. In July 2025 I had an obstruction. In all of my health situations I can't afford to lose the coverage I have. I have been staying with cousins, but that arrangement ends September 28, 2026 and I’m so appreciative. I need somewhere safe to go that’s not a shelter. Or the fees to get me another place that’s smaller and more affordable even if an efficiency that I could pay for if I get hired in retail or a service role instead. I also need my car to get to work, as well as to keep doing food deliveries, interviews, and medical appointments. When I lost my apartment I had to throw away all my food, so I need help with groceries until I have a place with a refrigerator.
My daughter, my sister, my sister-friends, and my two cousins have prayed for me and held me up. My sister is disabled and had triple bypass heart surgery and on oxygen the rest of her life. Each of them has a family and responsibilities of their own, and I understand that they can't carry this for me. I need help to get through until the job God has for me comes through.
Some people I trusted judged me and told me "that's what you get." I still choose faith over bitterness, love over anger, and hope over despair. The photo in pink is from 2017, when I was giving God praise, and I still do.
Your gift will help me pay for:
 •	Temporary housing: $1,500
 •	Health insurance: $165 a month
  •	Medications: $330 a month
  •	Car payment: $580 a month, plus gas at $60 a week
  •	Food: $80 to $100 a month
  •	Storage: $170 a month
 • Car Insurance: $260 a month  •	Phone, so I can receive work calls: $120 a month
Again, some of things I’m able to pay with deliveries but in August I only made $800 and something got the Month.  If you can donate or share my story, it will mean the world to me. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity.
 God bless you always,
 Claudia
