I never thought I’d be in this position; writing to  strangers, asking for help to keep the only home my mom and I have ever known. My mom has always been my rock. She’s the one who stayed up late helping me with homework, the one who worked long hours to make sure there was food on the table, and the one who put everyone else before herself. But life has thrown us more challenges than we could have imagined. A series of unexpected hardships hit us back to back with medical bills, rising property tax costs, storms that caused major home damage, and before we could catch our breath, we fell behind on our property taxes.

The amount owed is $2196, but for us, that might as well be $15,000. Without payment, we’re at risk of losing the home that holds decades of memories: birthdays, holiday dinners, and countless moments of love and laughter. This house isn’t just a house to me, It’s where my mom raised me, where family traditions were built, and where we’ve found comfort in the hardest times. 
Losing it would mean more than just moving, it would mean losing a part of ourselves and the sense of safety we’ve fought so hard to hold on to. and my mom are currently working full time, searching for small loans, tax abatements, deferrals, and payment plans while also trying to balance bills. We have tried everything in our power to fix this on our own, but time is running out. If you’re able to help donate, you wouldn’t just be saving our home, you’d be giving us hope.
