Help us tackle Indigenous youth suicide

For many years it was our family’s mission to establish a not for profit that assists in closing the gap in some way, but the tragic passing of our cousin Parker narrowed our focus.
Our Dream is to raise awareness and to support the prevention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Youth Suicide and its related causes in Australia.
This will be done through education, employment and mentoring initiatives. Our aim is to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young adults the opportunity to believe in a future without limitation.
One of our initiatives is ‘The Boots for Brighter Futures’ charitable project. Which was created to provide ‘at risk’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with a means of having a better story to tell.
The Boots for Brighter Futures initiative is a collaborative effort with the NRL that engages ‘at risk’ Indigenous youth to paint their own story and an NRL player’s personal story on their footy boots. The boots are worn during the Indigenous round of the NRL.
Afterwards, the boots are auctioned online with the proceeds going, 50% to the Cultural Choice Association, with the remaining 50% of proceeds split among the participating artists and/or the facilities and centres we work with.
As there are a limited number of boots, we have created this GoFundMe as a way for anyone to contribute to building brighter futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
A majority of the youth we help are some of the most marginal and vulnerable people in the community, and many of them have proven to be amazing and talented artists. Our goal is to raise $25k to enable the Association to engage with more kids who reside in Juvenile Justice Centre’s, Rehabilitation & Detention Centres, Foster Homes and Youth Hostels in NSW.
