Fighting Cancer Like a Jersey Girl!

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.  I have created this Go Fund Me campaign on behalf of my sister.  Her and her husband are very proud individuals and will not ask for help (which is why I have omitted their names), but there is a huge need so I am asking on their behalf.  I hope you will be able to help them through this difficult time.

When she was in her mid-twenties, she was diagnosed with epilepsy.  Over the past thirty years, the disease and the anti-seizure medication have taken its toll on her body.  It has robbed her of vision in one eye, each seizure takes more of her memories and it has accelerated the onset of osteoporosis.  But she has always managed through, until last August. She suffered a very serious grand mal seizure (it lasted 7 minutes) that left her with a broken collar bone and rib.  She had recently changed jobs and was just five days short of being eligible for medical benefits. With no medical insurance, she was financially responsible for all the bills from her initial treatment and follow up care for those five days.  While she was recovering physically and financially from this event, her husband's back condition had deteriorated to the point that he could no longer function (he couldn’t climb stairs and was falling frequently).  His only option was surgery.  This procedure added to their growing medical debt.  Then in March, they were dealt the most devastating blow of all, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is currently in treatment and optimistic she will beat it.  Truth be told, the cancer doesn't scare her; the incredible amount of debit they are accumulating is suffocating.  Even with insurance, their portion of the medical bills is unmanageable.  She is fearful they will loose their home.

Chemo weakens the immune system and makes the patient very susceptible to infection.  This is important because it relates to another area of need.  Their home had a roof leak some time ago which has since been repaired, however, the residual damage is mold.  The roof needs to be replaced, but more importantly with her weakened immune system it is critical we get the mold abated as quickly as possible.  Before they were faced with these medical issues, the shingles for a new roof were purchased.  Given their current conditions, they are not able to complete the work themselves as they had planned nor do they have the financial ability to hire someone.  If anyone has the ability to help with these home repairs (the home is in Wisconsin), either by donating supplies and / or labor, please message me.  We’d like to replace the roof and have the mold abated next month.

Even if you are not able to help us financially, please keep my sister and brother-in-law in your thoughts & prayers, it will mean the world to us.  Thank you for being by our side during this difficult time.  We will be forever grateful.
