Fighting For Stefanie Fort

Hello, we are Rebecca Smith (educator) and Karen Sydnor (healthcare) and we are long time friends of Stefanie Jenkins Fort.

Who Is She?

Stefanie is a lover of children and has spent most of her life educating and cultivating them to be positive members of the community. Stefanie has poured so much heart into her family, her faith, her classrooms, friends and colleagues, knitting, crafting, and helping others in any way needed.

Backstory in her own words:

I've been battling cancer/traveling to Houston (MD Anderson) since Oct 2015 for stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Initially I had a different type of cancer in each breast and now it has spread to my bones, stomach, and liver.

This journey began when I had a mass removed at 6 yrs old. I was diagnosed with same cancer at 17 yrs old, after which I had a mastectomy with chemotherapy. At 45 yrs old, cancer came again and I have been fighting to this very day. My Oncologists/Physicians continue to recommend hospice but I refuse to give up. I started traveling weekly to see a holistic doctor in Atlanta to help build my strength so I can continue regular chemo treatments. None of this is covered by insurance.

Why Rebecca and Karen have set up this fundraiser:

Cancer forced Stefanie into early retirement and the employment structure of her household has been reduced for her primary care taker. Her condition has advanced and the holistic treatment is not covered by insurance; all aspects of it have to be paid out of pocket.

We have set up this fundraiser to help recoup and cover current/future expenses involving travel, expensive medications, restructuring & modification (construction) of her house to accommodate the assistance she needs to move around the home and have access in and out of the home, drastic reduction of wages, and to show that we care and want to help.

Many have asked "What can we do and how can we help?" This is the opportunity to do so. Let's also prove to the world and to show Stefanie that when you put good into the universe as she has for her whole life, good will come back to you beyond what you can imagine. Let's show her how far her love and dedication has reached and how positively she has changed this world.
