Many of you already know a little bit about my current situation and that I am a young single mother of a wonderful and precious three-year-old boy. Although I cannot discuss the specifics due to ongoing litigation, I am doing everything in my power to do the best thing to protect my son and do what I can to keep him safe, healthy, and happy.
A little bit of what I can tell you is that my son’s father and I split before my son was born and I fought for custody for about two years before gaining sole managing conservatorship. In December 2020, I found out that my son’s father shot and killed someone. Due to various reasons, the prosecution was unable to move forward with the 1st degree murder charge. I’ve been informed that no other decision on other charges has been made at this time.
I have been terrified of my ex, due to the physical, emotional, and verbal abuse I endured while I was in a relationship with him (that’s the reason why I left while I was pregnant – to be safe and to keep my unborn child at the time safe from him). I had filed for a protective order in the past, but because of an attorney I had back then, we settled for a mutual agreement to stay away from one another (I was afraid to go to court and wanted to save my money for court costs in the future custody hearings). My ex had also forced his way into my apartment weeks after breaking things off and I did file a report on that (my ex was still on probation from that case whenever he shot and killed someone in 2020). With these patterns of violence, plus many other things going on during our litigation, I am still very wary about sending my son to see his father in an unsupervised setting.
I am still asking for help from family and friends, and yes, even to any kind person that may stumble across this GoFundMe page. I am asking for any amount to be donated to go towards legal fees of paying my family law attorney in fighting for the safety and protection of my son.
