Fighting For Polar Bear

Donation protected
Polar Bear is fighting for his life and we are helping him in every way we can. He was recently diagnosed with Leptospirosis and is suffering from Kidney failure associated with this bacterial disease. Sadly, we lost our first four legged baby to (most likely) the same disease about a month ago. The original veterinary hospital was so certain this was not the diagnosis, they recommended not doing the Leptospirosis test.  Leptospirosis is not only highly contagious to other animals it is zoonotic to people as well. The original veterinary hospital put us all at risk and has made the fight for Polar Bear much tougher as the disease has progressed within the past month.
This is a disease you want to be aware of, as it is contracted by ingesting contaminated water or urine of infected animals. Most commonly, it is contracted by water out in the woods or hiking areas were small rodents have urinated. It is devastating that our boys were out enjoying themselves when they first were in contact with this life threatening disease.
If caught early enough, treatment is a couple of antibiotics over a course of a month. However, if the disease progresses, it attacks the kidneys and liver. Treatment for this severe of a situation is very expensive and includes hospitalization for I.V. fluids and medications. Once released from the ICU, Polar Bear has needed continuous care with medications and oral syringe feedings among other critical care. He is doing his best to continue fighting hard to make it through all of this!
He is not only a big part of our family, he is a part of many peoples lives. The kids at the academy love seeing him everyday and are so sad to see him this sick. We have a long way to go and want to be sure he has the best care, medications and diet he requires. We appreciate all of the healing thoughts and prayers for his recovery! If there is a donation of any amount to contribute to his needs at this point we would be truly grateful.

We have already spent the amount requested and will still require medications, a special diet, blood work rechecks and follow ups to ensure his full recovery.  In addition, we have a large amount of debt going toward Ox's previous situation. He was misdiagnosed and the first veterinary hospital charged us a significant amount of money, then cost him his life. This is devastating to say the least, but we are focused on staying positive for Polar Bear and his current fight.

Thank you all for the support and understanding as we are going through a very tough couple of months!
