Fighting for Dave Podhiny

As everyone knows our friend Dave Podhiny  has been in the hospital for the last 3 1/2 weeks. He started at CCH due to an infected wound, had a couple of surgeries to  clean out the wounds. He had complications and had some internal bleeding so he was taken by ambulance to PENN.  Between Monday Sept 10th and Tuesday September 11th. Dave was given over 20 pints of blood. On Wednesday September 12th Dave went into Cardiac Arrest 2 times. He was put on the ventilator with a tube down his throat to help him breath. They tried 2 different procedures on Wed to stop the internal bleeding without success. Wed evening the 12th Becky was calling friends and family down to PENN for support but some of us were thinking it was to say goodbye. Dave surprised us and turned the corner after another procedure Friday morning that actually worked and stopped the bleeding.  
 
His update for this morning September 19th is that Dave is off of the ventilator and breathing on his own with the help of High Flow oxygen.  He has another infection so they started him on a third antibiotic. His lungs are very weak from not using them the last few weeks. So they are using some drugs to strengthen them. If this does not work then Dave will have to go back on the Ventilator again, however this time he will have to have the tube placed directly in his trachea by inserting it through an incision in his throat.  Please keep your prayers coming that his lungs will strengthen and this will not have to happen. Dave has a long long way ahead of him and is still in ICU. He will not be getting out of the hospital anytime soon. 

With all of this said Dave obviously cannot work and all the bills have been placed on Rebecca. She is able to work remotely thank God but with 4 kids to support 1 income is just not enough for all of the bills. Dave does have short term disability but after his medical insurance is paid, there is not much left.

We his friends are asking for help for this family. They are such wonderful people and they have been through so much. We just want Becky to be able to keep paying the bills and keep the kids in their activities so their lives don't have to change.  Any little bit would help and if you cannot help monetarily your prayers and well wishes would be appreciated. 

Becky thanks everyone for the wonderful meals that have been provided they have helped her tremendously so she can spend some time with Dave at the hospital and the kids are fed and taken care of. She is very grateful for all the help received and asked me to send her thanks and love to everyone.
