Fighting for Cassius

Donation protected
We feel extremely blessed by all of the love and support we have felt from so many friends and family. Many people have asked us what they can do to help so we are starting this GoFundMe to share our story and provide an avenue for those who wish to help us in a great way.

Edson and I struggled with “unexplained infertility” for 3 years, but we never gave up hope and we always knew that we would have children of our own one day and we would do whatever it took to make that dream come true. So after three years, we decided that we were going to take the route of adoption. We did a lot of research, completed our first round of paperwork and began the process of scheduling our first home study. That’s when the miracle happened and we found out that I was pregnant!!

This journey has been an incredible one, but definitely not an easy one. At 9 weeks pregnant, I began to lose a lot of blood and feared that I had lost the baby that we had dreamed of for so long. I then found out that our precious baby was still fighting strong but that I had a fibroid tumor that continued to grow over the next several weeks. My pregnancy was deemed high risk and I was put on moderate bedrest – no exercise, no chores, no trips to the mall or even the grocery store. That was a challenge for me mentally but I was so happy that I was still pregnant that I would do whatever it took to bring this baby into the world.

This picture was taken at 18 weeks+3 days pregnant when I had no idea that just one week later my life would completely change. At 5:30am at 19 weeks+3 days pregnant, my husband and I drove to the hospital because my water had broken. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to experience, but we have seen so many miracles along the way and we feel truly blessed that I am still pregnant and our baby boy is fighting hard.

My water broke on November 5, 2017 and I was placed on bedrest at home for 4 weeks until I could make it to 23 weeks pregnant. On November 30, 2017, I was admitted to the hospital where I will remain until I deliver. Our goal is to make it to 34 weeks pregnant, which will be February 15, 2018. I will remain on bedrest at the hospital until that time. After our baby is born, he will go straight to the NICU, where we know he will be in God’s hands.

I will be out of work for several months and our hospital and NICU bills will be substantial. We are so grateful for everyone who wishes to support us in any way they can. There are still many variables and uncertainties but we have faith that God is walking us through this journey and we know that we are not alone. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

We have named our little boy Cassius Michael Estrada after two great fighters. Cassius is a fighter. He is strong enough to overcome every obstacle and change his circumstances for the better.

We will be posting updates periodically so please follow our story at www.bundleofhappy.com and on social media using the hashtag #FightingSpirits.

We hope that our faith through our journey will impact the lives of many so please share our story and experience our miracles with us.
