Fighting for Amanda

Donation protected

My girlfriend and I have started this donation page for my beautiful sister Amanda in hopes we can get the help we need. My sisters medical journey started on April 8th 2014. Let me start off by telling you a little bit about my sister Amanda and who she was as a person. Amanda is the most loving, kind hearted, caring person you will ever meet. She has a smile that lights up a room. She loves to laugh and is the type of person that will drop anything to help out anyone in need. She has the kindest heart and soul. She is a wonderful mother of three beautiful children. My sister was a very outgoing vibrant woman who was always on the go. Amanda has many hobbies that she enjoys including music, sports, and spending time with her friends and family. Amanda is loved by everyone around her. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her you would love her right from the start. My sister and our family need your help more then anything right now. My sisters vibrant life has been stolen from her by this silent killer. On April 8th 2014 my sister started off her day just like every other day. She woke her children up to get them ready for school and then out of nowhere she felt a terrible headache come on. She went to the bathroom because she started to feel ill and she fell into a seizure. She woke up from her seziure and she couldn't feel her legs and was unable to get up and walk. She was also having difficulties with her speech. An ambulance was called and she was rushed to our local hospital when they did a Ct scan on her brain and saw she suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm and massive stroke. She was immediately rushed to University of Jefferson Hopsital where she underwent emergency brain surgery to save her life. The doctors told us on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the worst Amanda was a 5 and they were doing everything they can to save her. They prepared our family for the worst. They gave us a 1% chance of survival. She underwent a 5 hour brain surgery where the doctor's were able to coil the ruptured aneurysm. She lost so much blood during the procedure she needed to be given blood transfusions. Amanda was left in a coma on life support where she continued her fight to live. After a few days she needed to undergo a second brain surgery to remove half of her skull because her brain was retaining to much fluid and they needed room for her brain to swell in order for her to heal. She remained on a ventilator, feeding tube and drainage tubes in her head. Amanda has beaten the odds and has survived this horrible ordeal, but her journey is far from over. We are on week 4 of her rupture and she was just moved from ICU to a rehabilitation center for extensive rrehabilitation. She has to learn how to walk, talk, eat and how to go to the bathroom on her own.Everything we take for granted on a daily basis, she has to learn all over again. Amanda is very confused and does not understand what has happened to her. It's extremely difficult to watch someone you love go through such a difficult situation. Amanda is a survivor and has come a long way from something that could have easily ended her life. She has been an inspiration to us all. Amanda will have to undergo extensive rehabilitation for 6 months to a year for her to even get back to 50% of what she was before her rupture. We have a very long road ahead of us and we are reaching out to get any help we can get for my sisters accumulating hospital bills and therepy needed and also to help with providing for her children the way she is unable to now. Amanda has a 4 month old baby girl, 6 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. They do not understand what has happened to their mother, but what they do know is mommy is no longer there and its extremely heartbreaking. Our family struggles to keep it together, but we need your help. The bills have grown to much to fast for our family alone to handle. My sister is a very proud woman and would be upset with me for asking for help, but someone has to do it. Please find it in your hearts to help in anyway and share this page to everyone you know. Thank you for all your donations and kind words during this time.
