Fighting Cancer With Wilkyn Espinel

Wilkyn Eduardo Espinel is a humble and caring 11 year old, who loves playing soccer and spending time with his family.  On June 9th Wilkyn was diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin Lymphoma. Tumors were discovered in his stomach, lungs and throat compromising his ability to breath.  On June 15th he had a biopsy of a tumor in his stomach to determine the stage of the cancer and the proper treatment protocol.  Wilkyn had spent 1 month in the hospital however was forced to go home due to his family’s financial difficulties.  Due to the financial difficulties Wilkyn’s treatment was stopped and delayed which required him to receive additional blood transfusions.

Wilkyn is the oldest of 4 children and has 3 younger sisters.  Wilkyn is a brave, strong, and smart little boy.  He is currently getting treated in the pediatric unit in Hospital Central in San Cristobal Tachira, Venezuela.   After he finishes the round of chemotherapy he will need radiation. Unfortunately, no hospitals in Venezuela are able to provide radiation treatment to Wilkyn.  Wilkyn and his mother will have to travel to Colombia to seek out the next stage of his cancer treatment.    Please assist him and his amazing parents, Pedro Jose and Maritza, in keeping their focus on getting and keeping Wilkyn healthy.
