Fighting cancer with Dan A. Lopez

On Saturday June 24 2017, Dan's journey began with a visit to the ER. He thought he had an upper respitory problem along with some pain in his right side. Once they did an ultrasound and a CT scan they realized what they were looking at was a softball size mass on his liver.
They thought it was an abcess and that they could just drain the mass. They scheduled a biopsy and the biopsy turned out to be a solid mass. After a few tests were run on the biopsy sample they realized it was some type of a cancerous tumor.  At this point they still could not make a definite diagnosis. During the 1st week of being in the hospital he had fevers anywhere from 99 to 103 degrees all day and all night. They did a Bone Marrow Biopsy and after having more tests done they told him he had a rare form of Lymphoma.

On Monday July 3rd, 2017 he transferred to Fairview hospital at the U of M. Within a few hours of being admitted he was taken to the ICU where he had to be monitored closely. The next day he was back on the Bone Marrow Transplant unit where he started.

On Tuesday July 4, 2017 he had his first round 1 of 3 days of his chemo treatments. Now its  just time to wait for signs that his treatments are working. He was getting transfusions of platelets, red blood cells, and cryo. Once his numbers were stable he started feeling better. His strength and appetite were coming back. He has been walking everyday and getting stronger every day.

July 16, 2017 he was told that he possibly would be going home this week.....

Please keep your prayers and positive energy coming!!!
