A few weeks ago (May 2019), my father was rushed to the emergency room due to pain in his stomach. The doctors thought this pain was caused by abnormal healing of a previous surgical operation less than 6 months ago. However, after multiple scans and searches for what the causes were, the doctors found stage IV colon cancer.
My father’s name is Yeng Xiong or Zong Choua Xiong. Many people know him by Yeej or Ntsuab Yeej. He is 62 years old, father of 12 and came to the U.S. in 1996. A soldier and survivor of the Secret War in Indochina, my father then met my mother in a Thailand refugee camp where they eventually got married. Coming to the U.S. he did not speak any English, but managed to provide for his family and learn to survive in America. My father was a healthy person. He exercises and enjoys gardening. He was living normal and we did not expect there be cancer in his body.
Currently, we have been notified that the cancer is spreading throughout his small intestines. It is impossible to proceed forward with other surgical operations. Proceeding to surgically remove cancerous tissues is a high risk. He has been in the hospital for about a week now; he is unable to consume any solid food due to limitations of post-surgery. We would like to kindly ask our friends and families for support during this time. Financial support through this account will be used to help with my father’s treatments and care.
