Hello,
My name is Alann Valino, 43 years old, married with a 15-year old son. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2012. I have undergone two surgeries to remove the tumors in my bladder. In 2014, they decided to remove my bladder completely and replace it with a neo bladder which was a part of my small intestine that was cut to create a new bladder. After almost a year, they saw cancer cells now in my ureters and into my kidneys. In 2016, my doctor decided to remove both my kidneys and bladder. It was a 12-hour operation and I almost died. After that, I started to go to my regular dialysis since I don’t have kidneys anymore and another trial came to me. The cancer cells metastasized to my lungs. I started to undergo chemotherapy in April but after 3 cycles, they stopped my therapy because my hemoglobin levels and my platelets were dropping and there no improvement with the tumor they discovered in my lungs. They tried experimental drugs in June to boost my immune system to hopefully kill the cancer cells but after another 3 cycles again, they stopped giving me these drugs because the tumor is still growing. In October, I started doing another set of chemotherapy but after 3 cycles my doctor stopped the treatment since it didn’t help me and it still affected my platelet and hemoglobin levels. My doctor gave me less than a year to live. My oncologist told me my only hope would be to go to the ONE FOUNDATION a place that can do highly specialized testing on my tumor to determine if there might be one more chance to fight my disease. The problem with this procedure is the cost which is very expensive, costing around $6000 plus the cost of the medicine that I would eventually need for the treatment. Unfortunately, the government does not cover this procedure, likewise, my insurance does not cover it either. With this Go fund me page I am appealing to everyone’s hearts to help me raise the money needed for the testing I require. It is my last hope, I want to be cured. I want to still see my family.
