As a newly married couple, we were diagnosed with infertility. Initially devastated, we realized that this was simply an opportunity for us to have our family through another path, so we enthusiastically dove into the adoption process. After waiting 2 1/2 years, we were blessed with our son early in 2014. He is perfect, beautiful, happy, healthy, and thriving. At just one hour old, we became his parents and since then, we have been the only parents he has ever known. We are his and he is ours. We are a family. Every day, we strive to provide our son with a loving, fun, safe and secure environment so he can grow into the best person that he can be.
Unfortunately, months later, we are in the middle of a contested adoption, and we are doing everything in our power to keep our son. We have 100% support from our birth mother and her family. Without going into too many details, the birth father has an extensive criminal history and an extremely unstable living environment. It is abundantly clear that for Z's safety, and for him to have the opportunity for the life that he deserves, it is in his best interest to stay with us. This is very heart wrenching and incredibly terrifying for us. We just can't imagine him being anywhere but in our home, in his home. We are staying strong and staying positive. We will fight for him no matter the cost.
We are asking you for help in our continued fight for Z. Court costs and attorney fees are high, we have to travel for weekly visitations, and at the same time we need to be able to provide for our son. Any amount that you feel inclined to give is helpful and very much appreciated. If we are fortunate enough to raise funds above what we need to cover our costs, we will donate those additional funds back to our non-profit adoption agency so that they can continue the incredible work that they do for so many birth parents, adoptive families, and most importantly, the children.
