Save Our Trees: Symmes Twp vs Duke

We need your help!   Duke Energy has abandoned its reasonable practice of trimming trees every 4-5 years around transmission lines and has been systematically CLEAR CUTTING  everything within 100 feet of the wires, to the ground.  ...through people's backyards, over their homes, through their neighborhoods. They also plan to use chemical herbicide sprays.  Clear cutting is unjust, unreasonable and unnecessary to maintain the safety under the transmission wires.  If you live under, or in a neighborhood with these powerlines, your property value is at risk. We have received devalue estimates ranging from $15K-$30 PER residence.

81 families across Symmes Township and Montgomery have banded together against Duke as the Citizens Against Clear Cutting (CACC) to protect the beauty and value of our yards and neighborhoods.   We have retained a top-notch attorney in Columbus to help us fight and we need  your help in covering the legal fees, which are mounting. 

In the last four months we have had several wins, including the Public Utilities Commission refusing to dismiss our case at Duke's request; they have also stated that Duke has failed to prove why they need to systematically clear cut all trees and vegetation to the ground. Additionally, the Ohio Consumer Counsel has sided with us and will support us in the case, even going so far as to subpoena several of Duke's employees on our behalf. We are set for trial at the end of April.
