Why the Fight?
Many of you are already aware that our brother Mike was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. In addition to two separate interventional radiological biopsy procedures, his workup so far has included six different specialist consultations, a PET scan, two CT scans and MRI, as well as multiple other labs and x-rays. The results of the biopsies and tests now point to a need for an open biopsy. This entire diagnostic workup will enable the treatment team to determine the best course of action: excisional surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation. Mike’s spirits are good! He started the FIGHT himself when he stopped smoking, and he knows he is blessed to have an outstanding team of physicians and nurses who are ready to continue the FIGHT !!!
The Costs
While Mike has a good employer-sponsored health insurance plan, the deductible and copays for the diagnostic workup alone have already been a major hit on his financial resources, severely impacting his day-to-day living expenses – and he hasn’t even started treatment yet.
How You Can Help
Mike, that kind and gentle giant who has always been there for his family, friends, and co-workers, now needs our prayers and financial support so that he no longer has to worry about the high cost of his workup and treatments and can instead focus on getting well.
