Beautiful Trauma: My Family Experience with Breast Cancer’
It all began this past November when my little sister called me to say she had some news. We speak very regularly, but this call was different, I could hear the fear in her voice. At the very young age of 44, Jennifer told me that she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Needless to say our family was devastated. Without skipping a beat, I immediately went to her side to support her and made sure she knew this disease will not overcome this strong courageous woman.
This cancer has come to affect many aspects of our family’s lives’ -physically, mentally, and financially. Today I am reaching out to the many I consider friends for your compassion, empathy and support to wish her well.
Thankfully, the first part is over, but the battle has just begun. The cancer has since been removed, chemo is complete and recovery is underway. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We are awaiting genetics testing results and will keep you posted.
In order to alleviate the financial burden of medical bills and daily living expenses, I am having a fundraiser.
Please take a moment to make sure we are getting your mammograms, Ladies! This came as such an unexpected turn of events and awareness is essential.
