If this message finds you, then I'm very grateful to you and thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Photo Update 11th  December : To better days; taken at when Sayge was 17.

Update: 7th December.

Thank you to all the compassionate and generous people standing up for our Sayge.

You have raised $37K to enable us to proceed with the immunotherapy, tumour vaccine and other treatments which have now exceeded $120K.

These treatments have had spectacular results in reducing the tumour marker to a normal level. Sadly they have begun to rise again. This is like watching your child being in a slow motion car crash. She desperately needs a further drug treatment which will cost $35K upfront and we simply don't have the money to fund this.

Please help in anyway you can and tell everyone you know.

The original posting on the 22nd June:
I was 17 years old and didn't know, as I limped my way to my 18th birthday on the 14th Nov 2019 (riding my pony for the last time that day), not knowing the dread to befall me.

My first round of chemotherapy for Osteosarcoma started on Christmas day 2019; and they said they can treat it; but all they ever give me was terrible news.
Poor results after the second 35 day cycle and they said I needed an amputation and that it had spread to my lungs (it was probably already there on diagnosis on the 16/12/19; the PET didn't look that promising then and was progressive in change on the 24/2 scan after my second cycle of chemo.

After somehow finding the courage and enduring the horror in late March of losing my left leg and then finding out it was now in both my lungs, after lung surgery and to spend all of April recovering from the physical aspects of the leg operation, well, I could never begin to put my emotions into words.
Perhaps, just stop for a minute and feel it for yourself.

We began to try alternative therapies from late April and the first half of May; (Hyperthermia & Intravenous Vit C (IVC) and a drug to block glucose used by cancer cells), while we looked locally and overseas for something else that could complement conventional/alternative treatments.
In May, as we researched this, it became clearer that the alternative/conventional treatment needed the synergy of specific drugs with a clinic's protocol from the UK alongside Metronomic Chemotherapy.
After scans on the 1st of June, which now show it has spread in size and number throughout my lungs; on the 2nd of June, I began the drug treatment from Care Oncology in London.

With COVID19,  the family hospitality accommodation business has been closed since March.

July: As an addition to this original posting of the 22nd of June; Sayge has now commenced a low dose (Metronomic) chemo protocol which synergises the treatments above without the side effects of high dose.
IT HAS ALSO BECOME CLEARER  that a much longer duration of therapies will be required and that other intensive & expensive treatments both interstate and overseas may become a reality; so have adjusted the campaign target for this likely outcome.

Feeling Sayge's pain, I know in my heart, she would say these words -
I would love to be able to walk, ride my bike or my horse and even snow ski again; perhaps, I could even get that just out of reach elusive black belt in karate, when my leg began to fail me in late Sept 2019; but of course, as you would, just to live and enjoy the simple things that have always made me happy, such as waking up early and watching the sun come up, as I always did; play my piano, tend to mother earth, the garden our animals (my solace), not leave my brother, Archer; my best friend in the whole world without me; and just being there for other people that come into my life.

Please help me in any small way you can; with your help I can do all these therapies intensively and give myself the best chance.

(the words are from me, the dad but the are very much at the heart of Sayge)

Gratefully Andy
