Fight for Olive

Olive is my absolute pride + joy. She has been my baby since the minute I laid eyes on her in 2010. She's been the best friend any person could ever ask for for the past 8 years. She's an amazing, funny, smart and sassy dog with a mind of her own. In October 2017, Olive was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her breast. They said it was rapidly growing and the best thing would be to remove it and move forward with chemotherapy. Not even thinking at all, we said yes. The vet bills quickly piled up beyond $5k as we were doing treatments and tests every 3 weeks. Not to mention changing her diet, this girl was eating better than us. Come January, and a very tired and wiped out Olive, we found out there was no traces of the cancer in her body. WOW. We couldn't have been happier. But the bills were so high that we decided to put Olive back on her normal food again and didn't go back for our normal checkups as we probably should've. June of 2018, Olive started this very rare dry cough, hacking sound. It was only once a week or something so I assumed it was a hairball or something, she's a very fury girl. The cough just kept getting worse until August 2018 I figured, it was time to check and see what's going on in there. The vet came back to the room after the x-rays without Olive and the look on her face when she said "I'm sorry, it isn't good." My heart sank to the bottom of my entire body and I just began to cry. Olive had been just diagnosed for the SECOND time with cancer. I couldn't help but to feel that this was my fault, that I let her down. This time the cancer has metastasized rapidly to her lungs where they found 4+ tumors. We are doing our best over here to stay strong but in times like these, it almost seems impossible. Treatment was incredibly expensive last time but it was effective for the most part. We are still moving forward with chemo and I have found a holistic vet that we decided that we are going to be working with as well. We are going to be doing everything we can this time around again to ensure her quality of life is amazing while trying to kick cancer’s butt the second time around! We have already changed her diet to a no carb / sugar diet, tons of protein and veggies. She's taking supplements to help improve her immune system and CBD oils + much more. We never wanted to get to the point of a GoFundMe because I always thought asking for money from total strangers and not giving them anything back in return just didn't feel right, but we received a lot of messages from our family + friends and honestly, we are desperate to help get everything we need for our girl to be with us for more years to come. If you don't want to make a monetary donation, we have some awesome shirts for sale! >> Olive turns 8 on friday and to celebrate her life and the hopeful continuance of it, we decided to bring back our Dogs & Beer t-shirts as well as our Zero Woofs Given bandanas to raise money for her treatment. The shirt is unisex, comes in grey + black and printed on ultra soft tees!
