Fight for Jason

After being unexplainably ill for over a month, Jason went to a follow-up doctor’s appointment on the morning of January 16th. He was then sent to the emergency room immediately following his appointment due to tachycardia and extreme weakness. After running many tests, Jason was told that all of his blood counts were severely low and promptly given two blood transfusions. At this time, we were informed that leukemia was the most likely possibility. Hours later, he was sent by ambulance to The Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was given two additional transfusions. Jason underwent two bone marrow biopsies over the next two days, and on the morning of January 18th, he was officially diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. His doctors are very optimistic that it can be treated with chemotherapy and eventually cured; however, it will be a long process that may take 2-3 years. During the first phase of chemo treatments, Jason will need to remain in the hospital for 4-6 weeks. This puts a huge financial burden on him as well as his family, as he and his family reside roughly 3 hours away from the hospital at which he’s receiving treatment.
