Fight For Fisher

Donation protected
God tells us through his word  “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6). The Nelson family has had to rely on God's faithfulness and their story is a testimony for all to see! God has continued to bless this family in ways that are only possible for Him to do.  There is just no other explanation for some of the things that have happened over the last 6 months. Not knowing how they would get through having a child with HLHS, relying on God was their strength. Long before being diagnosed with HLHS, Fisher was named, and how perfect would this name be! This little guy is already doing God's work and being a fisher of men, a living testimony of God's miraculous work. With that being said, This gofundme is to help with their medical bills that have been accumulating over the past 6 months, as well as, ongoing treatment, expenses from 2 households, baby/medical supplies, etc. Fisher will never be cured and will continue to need many visits to Texas Children's where he will receive all of his medical interventions and his stage 3 surgery, the Fontan.
Eric and Brooke have 4 boys and their fourth son, Fisher, was born Jan. 30 of this year with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. HLHS is a severe heart defect where the left side of the heart doesn't form properly. Fisher basically has 1/2 a heart and without at least 3 open heart surgeries, this diagnosis is fatal. While the other children are being cared for by Eric and grandparents, Brooke and Fisher are currently living in an apartment in Houston, Tx, where Fisher is receiving care from Texas Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, there are not any hospitals in Mobile that can perform the life saving surgeries that Fisher needs to survive, so their family has been separated since the 1st of January. Fisher is currently 5 months old and has had 5 heart procedures since birth. His first open heart surgery was the Norwood stage 1 surgery performed at 4 days old, the second surgery was for a pericardiac effusion at 2 weeks, and a Heart Cath with Angioplasty at 3 months old. Fisher is currently recovering from the Glenn stage 2 open heart surgery, as well as an emergency surgery due to complications with his chest tubes. He is facing another Heart Cath and possible stent as early as the end of August.
Brooke has resigned from her teaching position and has been living in an apartment in Houston, Tx since January 4th while Fisher has been receiving treatment at Texas Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, she will not be able to return to work as she continues to care for Fisher and meet his medical needs. Please consider donating to help this precious family! Let us Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way and fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2.
