Hi everyone,
I'm Lachie - a gymnastics coach. In January 2026, I've been selected to attend the FIG 1 Coaching Academy for Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) at the AIS in Canberra. This course is being run by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), and is the first of three courses on the international coaching pathway to Advanced Silver and High Performance coaching accreditations.
The course costs $2,100 to enrol in, which is to be paid in four instalments (the first one being due on 22/08/2025). Since these costs come completely out of my own pocket, with no financial assistance or reimbursements to help me cover the costs, I am hoping to raise some funds to cover some of the course costs.
I am an extremely passionate member of the gymnastics community, already holding Advanced coaching accreditations in both Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics. I am also an Advanced Silver MAG judge, have competed at the highest level in gymnastics (Senior International), and served for two years on the inaugural Gymnastics Australia Youth Advisory Panel.
I have been involved in gymnastics for almost 14 years, and since I am only recently retired from training, I am able to spot most athletes and skills. As such, I already work with many of WAG squads to provide spotting and coaching support, and look forward to continuing to do so.
Attending this course and attaining FIG coaching accreditation will help me to better serve the community, by:
- Providing me with the qualification to teach and spot higher level skills (which also insures me to do so)
- Attend higher level competitions as a coach
- Learn from international coaches on how to teach advanced skills, which will make me a better coach
Any contribution to help me to cover the cost of this course would be greatly appreciated. I'm really excited to engage in this professional development opportunity and work on becoming the best coach that I can be!
