Fifth Acre Farms' Donation Garden
Fifth Acre Farms has partnered with South Side Pride to bring fresh, nutrient-dense produce to Elyria community members through the Freedge (free fridge) project.
More on the Freedge - Operated by the SSP collaborative, the Freedge is a
sharing mechanism aimed at reducing food insecurity and waste in hopes of building a stronger community. It promotes equal access to healthy food through the installation of a community refrigerator that is used to share food at the neighborhood level. People in the community are invited to donate food or take food as needed. The Freedge is located at the south branch of the Elyria Public Library.
More on Fifth Acre Farms - Fifth Acre Farms is tended by regenerative farmer Rachel Gonzales in Vermilion, Ohio. Rachel, an Elyria resident, has dedicated a portion of her land and time to growing produce specifically for the Freedge project.
100% of every dollar given to this project will be used by Fifth Acre Farms to purchase seed, soil and tools for the production of fresh, healthy veggies in our donation garden. These weekly harvests will give community members in Elyria consistent access to free, organically grown food through the Freedge program.
