<div>Many of you know Valerie, an incredible woman.
</div>

<div>At 88 years old, Val is independent, full of life, and has faced many challenges with strength and courage. She’s battled cancer, lost her beloved husband to dementia, and dedicated the last 10 years to supporting others affected by Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

</div>
<div>Val lives alone and has outlived all her friends and relatives. Her husband passed 10 years ago and as an only child she has no immediate family, but she has become part of my family. She is like a grandma to my girls and a friend and worrying mother to me!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Val never asks for help and always wants to do everything herself even with terrible arthritis, requiring titanium plates put in her ankles and needing crutches to walk. But Val's always the one who gives, the one who offers a smile and a helping hand no matter her own struggles.
</div>

</div>
<div>But now, it’s our turn to support her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Val had savings for her end of life care, however she was a victim of a cruel scam called 'Any Desk'. She was told to invest 250€ and to download their application, however by doing this the scammers were able to clear out her savings account - a devastating loss of €29,000.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have been to her bank Santander numerous times, written to their head office and sent a registered mail to their financial Ombudsman demanding they take responsibility for not detecting and stopping these fraudulent activities, but we never got any response.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although I will continue to fight the bank to get them to take responsibility, this may not succeed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am therefore setting up this fundraiser to help Val regain the means to support herself when the time comes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Val does not know about this fundraiser and I would like to keep it that way as I know how she broke down in tears of gratitude when a few from her church gathered €100 for her. I fear this may be too emotional for her and she would not accept people's generosity.
</div>

<div>Every little helps so please DONATE as much or as little as you can and consider doing sponsored events for her cause, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could <strong>share this fundraiser as widely as possible.</strong>
