Let's Get Michelle the Medicine

An insurance company is killing our dear friend Michelle and, in the short run, causing her intense pain. They are suddenly denying her medication that has been slowing the progress of her rare autoimmune disease for over two years now. She has missed two infusions already and is hurting most days to the point she can't get out of bed. Her trachea is currently in danger.

One month's infusion costs over $6,000. She is working to get the prescription covered again -- through the company (see her doctor's letter to the company which she offered to let me post) and through the state insurance commissioner -- but in the meantime we started the campaign with $2,000 and are hoping that Michelle's  friends and family and perhaps even caring strangers will help us buy her one monthly infusion so her health doesn't continue to deteriorate any faster than it has to.

She was supposed to have just 3-5 years to live when she was first diagnosed 13 years ago. Her amazing doctor has been helping her survive longer than most others with Relapsing Polychondritis but other medicines had some awful -- permanent -- side effects that this treatment DIDN'T have. Her service dog, Hayden, helps an enormous amount - even bringing her pain meds to her when she hurts too much to pick them up. We who love her are so grateful. What do you say, people? Help us help her?
