Welcome to my Johannesburg International Residency Fundraising Page!
Since February of 2011, I have been enrolled in American University\'s Master\'s of Science in Organization Development (AU MSOD) graduate program. As part of the program requirement, Cohort 63--twelve of us--will be heading to Johannesburg, South Africa for a 10-day international fieldwork experience.
The International Residency will run from July 11th to July 21st, 2012. We will be staying at the historic Wilgespruit Fellowship Centre in Roodepoort, Johannesburg.
International Residency:
The AU MSOD\'s International Residency experience is a unique approach to developing organization development (OD) practice skills with an emphasis on culturally-competent use of self. The experience is designed to prepare students for capable OD work in global and multicultural systems.
During the onsite portion of the Residency, Cohort 63 will conduct field research in the host community to develop our understanding of local and national cultures and acquire a deeper understanding of key theories related to diversity and cultural competence. Then, in small teams, we apply theories and learnings about consultation processes to complete a compressed 5-day full-cycle OD consultation in a local client system.
GOAL:
I have already begun planning, researching and saving, but I will also need your help. The airfare is to Johannesburg $2300, accommodation and other parts of my program fee will be $1200.I am looking to meet a fundraising goal of $3,500 by the beginning of May, 2012.
I realize you are asked on a daily basis to contribute to various causes on top of bills and everyday expenses, but you can make this dream a reality by contributing. Your donation would truly assist me in such a valuable learning experience.
