Lucas + Max Griswold's Education

As you all likely know, our family made the move to Madison a couple of years ago, and we've been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people through our children's preschool and in the community. On June 10 of this year, tragedy struck our very close friends the Griswolds when Beth's husband Mike passed away during his morning run before heading off to teach the last Tuesday of the school year to his 7th graders. Mike left behind two little boys, 5 year old Lucas (Jack's best friend) and 3 year old Max.
In Beth's words, "The day that he died, I couldn’t believe it to be true but what broke my heart most was that our boys had lost their father; the love of their life, the fun one, the cool one, the guy who could do no wrong in their eyes. My mind could not go far from the intense sadness and worry I had for those boys."
In the time I got to know Mike, I can tell you he was one of the more kind, generous, humble, and hilarious guys I've met. It seems he made the same impact on whomever he met:

At Mike's funeral, the family requested that in lieu of flowers, all donations go directly to an education fund for both Lucas and Max. And while I know Mike would be (and is) extremely proud of how Beth has handled this adversity, I also know they wouldn't be asking for help unless they really needed it.
This Sunday, I'm running (and attempting to finish) the Chicago Marathon. I'm hoping to harness the power of my wonderful friends, and asking you to consider sponsoring my participation in this race. All proceeds (save for the service fees) will go directly to Lucas and Max's education fund, and any amount you donate will be a tremendous help to Beth, and most of all, Lucas and Max.
