Alasdair's campaign to beat cancer!

Donation protected

Hello friends and family!!! I am writing this on behalf of our friend, our mentor, and on behalf of the wonderful Scottish character we all know as Alasdair Robertson. I first came to know Alasdair working with him at Passages to Recovery in 2006. I was tasked with training Alasdair and quickly realized that it would be the other way around, and he quickly became a mentor to me. In over 5 years of working at PTR Alasdair mentored countless other young men as the came into treatment. He always has had an uncanny ability to connect with people, listen to their story, and help them examine their issues from a different point of view, often a deeper point of view. After PTR closed, Alasdair became the point logistics person at Legacy Outdoor Adventures. Alasdair has been the man to help so many young men come into their treatment experience. When they arrived into treatment they often where already deep into examining themselves after the 3 hour drive from Salt Lake City international to Loa with Alasdair. When he would take them out of the program at graduation he often has them pull animal cards and helps them enter the next part of their journey with a meaningful spirit of intention. In many ways he has been the face of 2 programs as he welcomed new clients in and saw the graduates out. His job of working with young men dealing with substance abuse and alcohol issues is something that has brought great meaning to his own recovery. Alasdair has helped tons of young men in his time at PTR and LOA, but as a man in his own personal recovery of 19 years and as a pillar in his local 12 step communities he has helped and mentored many others through their struggles with addiction and alcoholism. All of this only begins to scratch the surface of the depth of his character. Alasdair has been a world renown chef, cooking in castles for kings and queens throughout Europe and Malaysia. He is an author of fantastical stories and has written three books. But most importantly he is an amazing soul. I and we and many have been blessed to have him as a part of our journey.  He has a gentleness about him that invites people in and helps them feel as if they are the most important person in the room when they are with him.

A few weeks back Alasdair got extremely sick. He was in and out of the hospital many times as doctors poked and prodded him trying to figure out what was going on. We finally have gotten word and diagnosis that Alasdair has stage 4 cancer in his stomach. This diagnosis is not good. But as you might expect Alasdair is handling it with grace and is ready for a fight. He is scheduled to start chemo June 22nd but complications with his insurance are causing a delay. The medical bills he has already occurred are adding up and there are sure to be many more as he plans to battle this disease. Alasdair has never asked for much. He often does his share and then takes care of others around him. Please help rally around him now to support him with his medical bills so that he can fight this thing! The goal is to raise $15,000. This will allow Alasdair to get on his treatment plan to battle stomach cancer. We love you Alasdair and are ready to fight with you.
