Two Brothers Murdered 19 days Apart

Lee Weathersby 111 was born on February 28, 2000. Lee weighed a whopping 9 pounds 10 ounces at birth. He grew up in Oakland, California. He attended Brookfield Head Start, New Highland Academy and would have graduated from Alliance Academy as an 8th grader on June 12, 2014.
Lee was loved by many. His tall stature landed him on the basketball team at New Highland Academy. He was known to the coaches as "BABY SHAQ".  Lee was a faithful member of the Oakland Boys and girls Club on 85th Avenue starting at the age of six. There he developed lifelong friendships with young men his age and the staff. Lee was also the band leader at his school and played the drums. "To this day we have not found a replacement that plays the drums like Lee did, he was star quality" quotes one of Lee's music teachers. Lee loved GOD. Lee would invite friends from his school to join them every Wednesday and Friday night to attend Victory Outreach Chapter in Hayward, California. There they increased their hunger to know more about GOD and his blessings.
On December 31, 2013 Lee attended an event at the Boys and Girls Club. He later called me and we confirmed that he would be spending the night at a friend's house and they would be going to church. For some unknown reason still unknown to me this day Lee left the friend's house at 8:45 pm. There was no phone call to me from Lee or the house Lee left to tell me that my son was on his way home. I wasn't given the opportunity to pick my son up or have him to be dropped off at home. Lee caught the bus heading home. At 9:25 pm Lee got off the bus on 104th and International. Lee crossed the street and started to walk the 7 blocks up 104th it took to get home. Between 9:27 pm and 9:28 pm my son was shot 27 or 28 times on 104th Walnut by two different people. Lee was rushed to the hospital but died at 4:42am on January 1, 2014, becoming known as the first homicide in Oakland, California in 2014.
Sadly, tragedy struck twice in 19 days. My Oldest son Lamar Broussard was born on June 19, 1994. He attended schools in Oakland, California later earning his High School Diploma at Camp Wilmont Sweeney in Alameda County School District. Lamar enrolled at Laney College where he was a full time student. Lamar met his girlfriend at Laney College. My son was experiencing love for the first time right in front of my eyes. He was maturing into a young man. Lamar also worked at Youth Uprising as a Peer Leader where he developed friendships with the staff and his peers. He was well liked at his job. Lamar loved rapping and saving his money. My son was able to purchase his own car by saving his work checks. What a "KING" he was becoming.
On January 19, 2014 I had just come home from driving my son car from church. I was home no more than ten minutes before my son and his friend Derryck Harris  left in his car around 1:59 pm. Around 2:00 pm, 45 seconds after leaving the house my son and his friend was gunned down in Oakland, California on 100th and Longfellow. My son died instantly. Lamar Broussard and Derryck Harris were known as the 4th and 5th homicide in Oakland, California in 2014.
I wanted to DIE. I literally wanted to DIE. After my son's body is placed into the morgue's van I went back home to the house I once shared with my kids. I instantly started turning over all the pictures I had of them two. I didn't want to see my kid's eyes as the pain, anxiety and hurt engulfed me. After 13 and 19 years all I had was pictures. Thru the pictures my sons kept looking at me asking "MAMA WHAT HAPPENED?"  Ages 13 and 19 taken way too soon. My heart aches every day. My heart aches as a parent to just want to hug my boys one last time. Every day I get up and ask myself what is it I do now? What can I do or how can I stay busy? What is it that can take the emptiness in my soul and existence and turn my Tragedy into Triumph."
Imagine yourself in my shoes.  Imagine losing your child or children to gun violence. Imagine one taken away from you then imagine another tragedy with the same circumstances 19 days later. December 31, 2013 Lee was gunned downed. January 19, 2014 Lamar was gunned down. January 16, 2014 was Lee's funeral.  February 4, 2014 was Lamar's funeral. From Columbine, Sandy hook,  Aurora Movie Theater shooting, Fashion Island Mall shooting in New Port Beach, individual street shootings, or the massive shooting near the University of Santa Barbara, California, THEY ALL COUNT. ALL LIVES MATTERED.
There is a 30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, charges and conviction of my only two kids, and Derryck Harris that the city of Oakland does thru Crime Stoppers. So far that hasn't brought many leads. 9 And 8.5 months later the suspects haven't been caught yet. Investigations continue to be ongoing. In the hopes and prayers that witness that have information about my kids death come forward, we would like to extend the reward that will lead to arrest and charges being brought against the suspects.  Any thing you can spare, any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your continued support and for your mutual love for Lee Weathersby 111, Lamar Broussard and Derryck Harris.
