Megan AMstar's Paralympic Nationals
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
To most of you Megan needs no introduction, but perhaps I do. I'm her dad, Kevin - and I'm so proud of her.
During this past year Megan was approached by a World Champion tandem cyclist to think about training on a bike to compete. The two of them thought and conversed for many months until the decision was made to 'go for it' and work together as a team. Lisa is the pilot and Meg is the stoker.
During the last two months they have gearing up their training to participate in a camp at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Site later this month. After the camp they go to Los Angeles for the World Championships in Paralympic Cycling.
I recently asked Megan, "What are your expectations for this 'journey'". She reminded me that after her international swimming career; she has felt that she has some unfinished business. I am so thankful and, like I said, PROUD, that she is GOING FOR IT! She will be very busy, as she will continue her college studies in while inCalifornia
Resilient, dedicated, and focused, Megan has a wonderful opportunity in front of her.
This two-week endeavor is not without expenditures :)
Below is a breakdown of the estimated costs:
Registration for Nationals - $100
Camp expenses and bike shipping - $700
Airport Shuttle - $50
Airline tickets - $350
'Skin' (racing) suit - $150
Shuttle to L A - $100
Food - $ 175
Hotel (3 nights in L A) - $375
Thank you so much for your contributions. I am encouraging Megan to consider your gifts as part of a relationship, and that she can use this opportunity to communicate with you. Look forward to her Facebook Posts as she reflects on her experiences.
Thanks again!
