The Purpose
Please consider donating to my wonderful, hardworking senior dancers in Fort Good Hope, Northwest Territories. They are raising money to fly to Toronto for a week in October so they can be exposed to professional dancing and theatre. There they will be attending 3 Musicals and a Ballet Performance. I can't truly explain how much these kinds of trips mean to students living in remote locations. I know a "trip" sounds frivalous but for Northern Youth it really is so much more. It is the exposure to new oppportunity that is priceless. These girls are so deserving of an opportunity like this and I know how much it will be genuinely appreciated by each of them. This trip could provide a small glimpse of what opportunities may await them post-secondary.
Fort Good Hope does not have road access so trips out are expensive and limited. The trip will cost around $12,000 and we have been fortunate enough to receive funding to cover half the cost of this trip. In the coming weeks we will be fundraising in town through Bingos, Bake Sales, 50/50, hot breakfasts etc. to earn the remaining $6000 but I thought I would try to appeal to those outside of our town as well.
A Little about the Dancers
For the past 4 years, these dancers have practiced 4 days a week after school and on weekends. It is obvious that dance has become their passion and has kept them motivated and focused at school. In order to be on the dance team they must attend school regulary, work hard academically and more importantly be kind and compassionate to others. I'm so incredibly proud of them- - they have done all of this and more. They have overcome personal obstacles, have stayed away from the negative influences of drugs and alcohol and have chose to make school their priority . I see the younger students now following in their footsteps and I am so glad they have such powerful examples of what can be accomplished when you dedicate your time to education and extra-curriculars.

We will be working hard to put on fundraising events locally so any donations recieved here would be so very appreciated and not taken for granted.
