Phillip's Medical Fund

In November 2016, Phillip was unexpectedly diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He was immediately started on chemotherapy and intense radiation therapy. The treatment was 99% cure rate the oncologist told him. He tolerated the painful treatment plan that ended in January 2017. His first follow up to determine if he was in remission  unfortunately showed an existing tumor. So in May 2017 Phillip underwent surgery to remove the cancer. The recovery after surgery was difficult given he was still recovering from chemotherapy and radiation. However, as always he fought his way back to health. In August he had his first scan after surgery and was finally in remission. He was anxious to get back to work and get back on his feet. He continued aggressive physical therapy but continued to have pain in his thigh that continued to worsen to the point he was unable to walk. His next 3 month scan was moved forward to beginning of December. The scan showed a new suspicious area in his lung and a mass in his thigh. He was scheduled for biopsies of both areas, of which he was certain would not be cancer. On December 26th, he was notified by his oncologist that both biopsies showed cancer, the same type of cancer initially diagnosed. Given his inability to walk and extreme pain he was admitted the next day to start chemotherapy and radiation once again. He will hopefully be discharged tomorrow to continue treatment outpatient. 

This reoccurence was very unexpected. The next step is not known at this time, the oncologist will let him know once his radiation  and his next round of chemotherapy is complete.  He now has been out of work for over one year, even though the initial plan was only 3 months.

If you know Phillip you know he takes great pride in work and enjoys an active lifestyle. He struggles with not being able to work. Fortunately, he has been helped along the way by friends and family.  However, with deductibles being due now for the third time it is becoming more of a struggle financially. The funds will be used to pay his deductibles that will be due this week and to help with travel and transportation expenses as he travels to treatment daily until February.

This fundraiser has been started at the request of MANY friends and family. Phillip has always helped anyone and everyone in all walks of life, and so many want to help him now.
