Fernando Madrigal Recovery Fund

On June 10th, 21 year old Fernando, youth leader and community activist, was shot in the head while riding in a vehicle in San Francisco. Miraculously, Fernando survived both the shooting and brain surgery to remove the bullet fragments from his brain.

For the last year, Fernando has been on a mission to address the needs of young people impacted by violence and incarceration.  He has spoke at multiple conferences, sharing his personal story as a victim of violence, having been previously shot and stabbed.  As a young person who spent most of his teen years incarcerated, Fernando often advocates for effective approaches to serving youth impacted by trauma, and was an instrumental advocate for the closure of SF Juvenile Hall. Fernando also serves as youth council member for San Francisco's My Brother and Sister's Keeper initiative advocating for more employment options for young adults with felonies. And as a Career Pathway Intern, Fernando has personally helped countless young people apply for and secure employment.

But now Fernando needs our help! He still cannot feel the left side of his body. He will be spending 6 months to 2 years in speech and physical therapy. We are raising funds to help with his recovery and to assist with his basic needs while off work.  Please give what you can and/or share this link with others!
