Ferhan's Wish for Hope

Anyone who knew Ferhan knew that she is defined by her love for her children. For Ferhan, there was no love greater than that for her babies, all 4 of them; her own, Alexis and Dominic and her sister's, Luke and Colin. She loved all 4 of them with all of her heart. They were her joy, they were her pride, they were everything to her. She had, though, a very special place in her heart for Colin, because as a special needs child, Colin so needed that special place in her heart, and for her, Colin was her heart.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but to raise a child with special needs it truly takes a strong, village. The Ivymount School in Potomac, is a huge part of Colin's village. The Ivymount School is a very special place where children like Colin are lovingly and patiently taught and encouraged every day to reach their own individual potential. The teachers and staff who work with these very special children are truly doing work that is changing lives in very profound ways. They have made a huge difference in the life of Ferhan's sweet Colin.

We want you to know that Ivymount relies very heavily on individual donations to do the amazing work that it does. Without these donations, Ivymount cannot continue to operate at the high level that it needs in order to serve the needs of special children like Colin. These children need our help.
