Fenton Loyola Family Memorial Fund

Hello loving people,

Our family's hearts were broken when we lost our beloved Fenton this January unexpectedly when he passed from this world to the next in our arms.

What we, including his wife and our mom Kerrie were not prepared for were some financial costs surrounding all this. Additionally casket and cremation costs and other unforeseen complications have built up and become quite costly. We've been doing our best to mourn our dad and all the "business" that comes with death has certainly made that more challenging.

The toughest part was finding out recently that the government is refusing to pass on dad's pension from his years as a psychiatric nurse at Riverview hospital based on the technicality that he had contributed 9 and a half years into his fund, not the entire 10. This was fairly devastating and cold news to receive as we thought at least that would help stem some of the stress of the costly death process (the basic cremation and casket costs were $1000s of dollars!)

Dad passed on what he could to mom and us. But most of it was sentimental and I know he was going through steps to make sure Mom was taken care of after he passed. Unfortunately this didn't quite happen and it's been financially quite a burden with none of the benefit that the government promised to Mom anew Dad in their old age.

Mom and Dad met at Riverview hospital where they put in years of excellent humanitarian work as a psych nurse and aide and now they're refusing to even pay the little pension he was owed.

We've managed to keep the actual memorial costs relatively low but the other aforementioned costs have been tough...we are now opening ourselves up to receive whatever help the universe and our friends on the island and beyond might be able to pass on with loving gratitude and no expectation.

Our family has been through it's ups and downs but we were so grateful to surround our best friend, father and life partner before his time came.

We know times are tough for many, we want no one to feel obligated.

This is just us telling our story and trying to creatively solve some of the unfortunate parts of what happens when you lose someone you love and who has provided for us for so long.

Thank you for whatever you can do,
The Loyola Family
