"Fencerow County" UW Student Film

What is this?

Fencerow County is a student film currently in production as part of U.W. Madison’s capstone course in digital media production, C.A. 659: "The Advanced Motion Picture Workshop". We have been tasked with turning an original screenplay into a dramatic 30-minute short film. On May 5th, 2018 our short will premiere in a 4k, theater-ready format at Union South. We are very excited to undertake this challenge, but we need your support! The course provides us with access to state-of-the-art video and sound equipment, but we still need to secure a production budget. Without the support of your contributions, our film simply cannot be created.

Who are we?

Driftless Pictures is a student film crew comprised of 8 talented Communication Arts majors: Maxwell Rumble (Director), Warren J. Bailey (Producer/Asst. Director), Brianna Woodruff (Director of Photography), Jeung Bok Holmquist (Production Designer), Rena Shen (Asst. Camera/Colorist), Stephen Deming (Gaffer/Asst. Colorist), Harrison Cope (Editor/Boom Op.) and Samira Mian (Sound Mixer). We have just begun production for our upcoming short film, Fencerow County.

The Story

Fencerow County tells the story of Oliver Luebke, a young man who returns to his rural hometown in need of money. Upon arriving, he quickly realizes that those he left behind, particularly his mother, are still reeling in the wake of an unsolved murder that occurred nearly a decade prior. In struggling to understand his family’s broken dynamics, Oliver reconnects with his highschool sweetheart Kaitlyn. Original screenplay written by U.W. Alum Christopher Dalton.

Join our production effort!

Driftless Pictures has access to advanced film equipment, but we lack the necessary production funds. With your contributions, we will be able to bring Fencerow County to life! We are trying to raise a total of $5,000.

Our Sound Team: Harrison Cope & Samira Mian.

Where does my contribution go?

Our budget has been carefully calculated to account for all pre/post production costs. Your contributions  go toward artistic expenses like art direction, costumes, and props. Contributions also cover more practical things like equipment transportation, production insurance,  promotional materials, and food for the cast and crew.  These are all essential to the success of our film! We plan to raise funds until April 30th. Even if we don’t reach our ultimate goal, every contribution makes a difference! This production is designed to shoot efficiently and cost effectively, putting every single cent of funds raised to good use. If our crew happens to raise a surplus, the remaining funds are donated to the program to ensure future Communication Arts majors are given the same opportunities.

What your support means

The success of this project will not only produce an entertaining short film, but provide each and every member of Driftless Pictures with a better opportunity to pursue careers in the industry. We are incredibly grateful for this experience, and we look forward to sharing our finished project with all of those who supported us!

If you feel this is a worthy cause, please help us spread the word! Share our page on Facebook , and email any friends who might be interested. Thanks for reading, and thanks for considering our film!
