Female quarry worker statue campaign

In April, the High Peak community was left devastated after the statue of Jack the Limeworker in Grinlow Woods, Buxton, was targeted by vandals who carved anti-semitic graffiti into him. Thankfully, after the community rallied round, Jack has now been fully restored.

Buxton Civic Association (BCA), who own the woods, have always wanted to add a female statue alongside Jack to represent the local women who have played their part in our area's rich quarrying history. However funding for this has been difficult to find.

Now the Buxton Advertiser has launched this campaign, in conjunction with BCA, to raise the money for a female statue.

Any donations would be very much appreciated.
