Female & Free Speech Airlift Afghan Evacuations

After the U.S. exit, Afghans who were most outspoken against the Taliban, such as women's rights advocates, high-profile journalists, and scientists are now in hiding while suffering violent retaliation for their leadership and intellectual works of art and scholarship.
Many have found ways to get documentation, visas and support -- yet transit out of Afghanistan continues to elude them.
We are founders of the Female & Free Speech Airlift, which has created transit solutions for this specific group of Afghans —women, creatives, scholars, those with little formal support — after solving many diplomatic and operational quandaries. The only thing standing between safety and these nation-building Afghans is funding for their journey.
We must raise $375,000 to pay operation and sustainment costs in transit countries for our evacuees. Will you help us save lives?
Thank you for your support!

Female & Free Speech Airlift

Female & Free Speech Airlift’s mission is to support the evacuation from Afghanistan and resettlement in the U.S. of vulnerable, outspoken Afghans such as women & youth, scholars, creatives, and other vulnerable folks who do not have formal support and are targeted by the Taliban.

Vetting and intake

Female & Free Speech Airlift requires that each evacuee is referred by one of our vetted organization partners and we verify the evacuee’s identity through identification documents such as passports, visas and Afghan IDs (Tazkira). All persons referred through a donor are required to submit evacuees through FFS Airlift’s intake procedure as well .

Female & Free Speech Airlift does not blindly add anyone to manifests. We work with the State Department to help vet and maintain every individual on our manifest. We ensure all documentation, case/ID numbers, and family relationships are vetted for all members of our manifest.

No one in Female & Free Speech Airlift is in any way, shape, or form in communication with any member of the Taliban, Haqqani network, ISIS-K, or any other terrorist organization as defined by the US Government. We are working through formal and informal channels within the US Government and our host country partners only.

Security & evacuation

When a flight is scheduled, the manifest is cleared by the State Department then provided to the chartered airline. At the airport terminal, pictures are used to ensure that names and faces match the documentation. Only those on the manifest will be allowed to board.

Female & Free Speech Airlift is currently a volunteer effort of Co-Caring Corp, a California nonprofit. We have taken steps to file as a 501c3. We have a CFO who is tracking expenditures and we will have a CPA firm conduct an external audit of our books. We will continue to evolve as an organization with the intent of keeping our operating costs at or near zero while continuing to professionalize the organization. We will evaluate bringing on professional staff to sustain evacuation operations over a longer time horizon than our current volunteer structure can maintain.
