Dear Friends,

This year we are holding our 8th annual Black-Tie Gala on December 8, 2017 to benefit the Female Benevolent Association of Mt. Holly.  This cause is very dear to us and with your generosity over the years they have been able to help numerous families in the Mt. Holly area.

About the Female Benevolent Association of Mt. Holly

In 1814 a group of civically-minded women came together with the kind and simple goal of helping hardworking people in their community whose lives were shaken by misfortune—illness, death, job-loss.  They were called the Female Benevolent Society.

Fast-forward 203 years.  The Female Benevolent Association of Mt. Holly’s legacy of kindness persists.  The Association’s volunteers support women in their community through temporary financial assistance, supplementary food and clothing and gifts during the holiday.  In addition to this tangible support, the Association’s volunteers spend time with these neighbors to talk, providing reassurance and encouragement.

These are real-life stories of hard-working Burlington County women who received support from the Female Benevolent Association of Mt. Holly:

*You’ve bravely fought breast cancer for years, juggling full-time work and parenting—with no family nearby.  You have health insurance, but it doesn’t cover much.  You have a stroke of luck. You’re accepted into a clinical trial conducted about two hours away but you have to make the costly monthly commute for the treatments.

Financial support from The Female Benevolent Association helped cover some of your high co-pays and commuting costs; but the emotional support of Association volunteers was priceless.

*You walk to both of your jobs—whatever the weather.  The salary you make barely covers rent, but you make just enough so they cut back on your food stamps.  You often wonder what’s worse—being with your abusive, drug addict of a husband or working more than 40 hours a week and not seeing your fifth grader who you live with in an unsafe neighborhood—because that’s what you can afford.

Thanks to the support of The Female Benevolent Association you have a better apartment, closer to work; and you have a better outlook on life too.
